What is “Email Appending”? How is it work?

The process of merging a database of customer information that lacks e-mail addresses for the customers with a third party’s database of e-mail addresses in an attempt to match the e-mail addresses with the information in the initial database. A typical e-mail appending scenario involves a business that has name, address and telephone data on its customers to do business through mail or over the telephone, but the company wants to expand into e-mail communication and pays a third party that has a database of e-mail addresses in order to merge the data together
SixChannels does this by matching (email append) information contained in a client file with that in various ISP subscriber databases of more than 120 million opt-in email addresses.

Where do these millions of email addresses come from?

We only license and populate our sophisticated email appending database only what are called "permission-based email" databases to match postal addresses. These are email append databases that people have specifically given their permission to be placed on, and have responded to an email that confirms their interest.

How do we know these are the right email addresses?

Email Appended addresses is generally correct. The appended email addresses are thoroughly checked before delivery through our advanced email verification tool.

What is the basic source?

  • Opt-in permission-based websites.
  • Online and offline survey data.
  • Online and offline product registrations.

Is this considered “Spam” mail?

No. Email appended lists are built only from what are called “opt-out”, permission based lists. SixChannels retains records of permission granted email for client’s protection.

How long does the append process typically take?

Depending on the vendor you use and whether you require them to run an opt-out message the time varies. For a straight append with no opt-out message, the process generally takes 7 to 10 business days. If you're in a hurry this can often be reduced to a couple of days using our Rush process. If your append project requires the vendor to send an opt-out message, this can add approximately 2 additional weeks to the process.

How do we get the email list?

Client provides SixChannels with the initial list; SixChannels will then perform its email appending database match. (SixChannels and client will agree upon a baseline list to be matched. In some cases SixChannels will procure a file for the client.)

How long is an email address valid?

This of course varies on a case-by-case basis. However, it is generally expected that an email database of customers will show 1-2% turnover from each month as people change jobs, move or switch Internet providers. This is a great reason to make sure your append provider has data that is timely and that they offer a rebate for any bounces that occur on your first blast.

What is average append rate?

SixChannels Append Rates in B2B domain ranges from 35-85% and includes Only Business Emails. We do not append Yahoo/Hotmail kind of accounts.  Our competitors generally append 20 - 35% which Includes Yahoo/Hotmail kind of accounts and not necessarily Business Accounts.
